Purple ruby color. Very big wine wiith ripe fruit with focused flavors and noticeable tannin. Adequate acid and well integrated oak. Still maturing and not at peak, with barely noticeable secondary flavors. Has at least another 7-10 years of life into it. Very powerful wine, worked well with a greasy lamb and a complex starch with garlic and cinnamon and herbs.

2006 O`SHAUGHNESSY HOWELL MOUNTAIN NAPA MERLOT- tasted blind; deceivingly youthful with its deep, dark purple colour and vibrant fruity aromatics, this shined brightly giving generous amounts of ripe, black cherry aided by some milk chocolate and cocoa coming in late; it was in nice balance, was full bodied and soft and easy on the palate

Simply an amazing example of a Merlot from Howell Mountain. Tasted at the winery several years ago, and we loved it. An amazing combination of big dark fruits, and wonderfully smooth, yet large, tannins. One of the best Merlots i can remember having. If you want to find a flaw, perhaps it's too much like a cabernet, and not quite showing that it's a Merlot.

Bramble and huckleberry. Lots of dark fruit with a great finish. A big Merlot with many good years ahead of it.

Consistent tasting notes from Oct 2010. If opening this young, decant 2-4 hrs. Makes all the difference.
