  Similar thoughts to my 2015 and 2017 notes for this wine. It drinks in a relatively Old World style. On its drinking plateau now. No hurry needed with properly cellared bottles, that'll easily go another 10+ years, I'd expect.

  Under cork. Similar impressions to my 2015 TN for this wine. Attractive Right Bank bouquet of cedar, blackberries, cassis and a little tobacco leaf. Similar flavour profile. Good balance between the fruit, oak and acids. Fully ripe fruit but in a leaner, elegant style I like. Just beginning to move a little secondary in its profile. A high quality Hawkes Bay Bordeaux blend. Drink now or in the next 10 years.

  I bought the Unison at the vineyard on release and this is the first bottle I have tasted. A blend of Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. As Barbara indicates below, on release this wine was (I recall) an impenetrable wall of tannins. Those tannins have now softened and receded. On the nose, Left Bank Bordeaux aromas of blackberries, dark cherries, espresso and cedar. Also some dried herbs and a little spicy, vanillin oak. On palate, mid-way between a Left Bank and a New World expression, quite velvety but with a soft, relatively mellow mouth-feel and texture. There is good fruit weight, structure and power. The flavours reflect the bouquet: blackberries and other dark fruits, coffee and some herbs (without overt green), with some Black Doris plums and a suggestion of minerals. There is still some grip on the back palate from the tannins but they are relatively fine grained (not at all rustic). There is no sign this wine will fall over. I’ll drink my other bottles in the next five years but I would not be surprised if it lasted considerably longer.
