Translucent dark red. Strawberry, vanilla, and cherry cola nose. Light to medium bodied, raspberries, pomegranates, cherries, sweet tannins, white pepper, and a medium length finish. Somewhat lacking in acid, but really fun to drink.

Tercero tasting room in Los Olivos. Larry poured this to show his first wine and what a very ripe year 2006 was. This really is a fruit bomb, but not like a Turley can be -- it is big and overripe, but not overwhelmingly so. A little on the plummy side, like many overripe reds, but also showed some bright red fruit as well. Larry was laughing about this wine, but I thought it was a pretty good drink and would make a nice BBQ wine.

A candy bar nose of dark and milk chocolate, cherries, nougat, roasted peanuts, and raspberry coulis. Rich and sappy on the palate, high-toned cranberry along the middle, with an mineral and ash finish. Enjoyable now, but I feel it could probably use at least another year in the cellar.

The Taste Pilots, 2.0: Grenache Night (An Undisclosed Gem of a Private Room Somewhere in Buellton, CA): Perfectly stored, and in a beautiful place at age 10, with deep strawberry flavors (more masculine than the perfumed version I tend to dislike in Grenache), and impressive purity. No hurry whatsoever.
