  • This was my last bottle of a wonderful Barbaresco. Had this along with a 2020 Tignanello which it kept up with stride for stride. Opened it about 2 hours before we tried it. Beautiful wine.

  • This was a surprisingly nice wine with tons of flavor. I used an aerator to pour it into large glasses and let it sit for 30 minutes in the glass. This process seemingly brought out as much flavor as possible.

  • No decanting. Pop and pour
    Fully mature colour
Super complex nose of typical rosewater and chocolate cherries
Still a tannic bite in the mouth with a beam of sweet acidity (yes!!)
You keep on coming back to it
Did I mention this is great
My last bottle, many drunk to young?

  • Wirklich geile Marzipannase!

  • Eucalyptus and a bit of bretty earth on the nose. On the palate, light cherry, strawberry, rose petal, and notes of anise and earth on the medium finish. This was drunk alongside a 1996 Barolo, and it was more delicate and sophisticated compared to the Barolo, which tasted young and powerful at 20 years old with a long drinking window to come while this 2005 seemed to be early in its peak phase. The women in the party went straight for the Barbaresco, while I somewhat preferred the Barolo -- a demonstration of the "masculine/feminine" stereotype between the two wines. Average value at a bit under $40.
