Several glasses with few drops of water to open. “Rich” is my best 1 word to describe this…almost sweet, delicious, explosive flavors melding together into a long beautiful finish. Easy to sip and savor, while being so complex. Kudos Japan!

From bottle purchased before prices went out of hand. Pleasant and refined aroma, palate like a good speyside. Not too sweet. Quite subtle. Is it worth current prices? No. Absolutely not.

When I first opened the bottle I was a bit disappointed with this whisky, but two things have changed my mind: first, it needed air to open up, and second, glassware seems to be particularly important with this whisky. The glencairn is not suitable, the aromas come through better out of a small white wine glass. This whisky is food friendly, especially with middle eastern and Chinese food. Well balanced, with mild baking spices and dried fruits on the nose, more spices and a little heat on the palate. Round mouthfeel.

Japanese Whisky Tasting (Brandy Library, NYC): A solid whisky yielding some apple, honey and spice, with only a touch of peaty smokiness. Good effort, but not as smooth and harmonious as the very feminine Hakushu, or the WOTN the Hibiki 17.
