  • My first French Chenin. Maybe that's the reason I find it very hard to describe how this wine smells and tastes, because this is very different from the whites I usually drink (rieslings, chardonnays etc). Kind of reminds of some white Chateauneuf-du-Papes I've tried in the sense that the ripe fruit and the instant pleasure are not there. Acquired taste? Probably. On the palate this wine is full bodied, acidic and the high ABV is definitely noticeable. It isn't bothersome, though. This wine worked well enough with a chanterelle risotto and I believe that it almost requires food to be truly enjoyable. Nevertheless, there is some interesting balance to it and at least it offered a new experience, to say the least.

  • Quince, ripe apple and peach on the nose. Loads of honey and white flowers - as well as hay, spices and butter.
Dry, quite full-bodied and slightly oily on the palate with ripe fruit and deep balanced acidity. Well in line with the nose. Good length.
A thoroughly pleasant and very foodfriendly wine.
