Cork was decrepit, fell apart and wine was past. Not fully oxidized, but I would say enough to rob it of any interest. We drank most of it but got tired of it. Tasted over 48h with boring consistency.

Medium intensity nose of quince, candied orange, wet stone, smoke; medium bodied, high acidity (envelops the sugar); lemon peel, baked apple; creaminess; medium finish of lemon/green apple/acidity. Improves with air. Slightly unbalanced (acidity lingers alone), a bit too creamy; reasonable complexity.

Very nice, though not up to the level of the last bottle I enjoyed. There's a mature burnished quality to the fruit, bright herbal, smoky and creamy accents with a nice acid spine beneath, but it doesn't have the depth or persistence I recollect from my last bottle, coming across a little thinner and light on the back end.

Much better than the corresponding Saarburger Rausch - this feels a little more developed with lovely smoky, spicy and herbal accents on top of the rich orchard fruit and honeyed flavours. Lighter and fresher than the Rausch with a nice acid backbone that freshens up the fruit and serious length.
