Popped and poured, rich, dense, concentrated merlot, with lots of dark fruit, oak and dark chocolate. Took a little time in the glass to come together and show its stuff, not great but still a lot of bang for the buck.

Opened not decanted. Purchased off the mediocre wine list at a ribs restaurant somewhere, possibly, in Palm Desert (all the desert cities pretty much look the same to me). Charcoal and smoke on the nose. Blackberry and blueberry fruit with a drying black fruit finish. Seemed pretty much a jumble of tastes and artificial oak. If I rated wine in points, it would probably be somewhere around 86 or so. The list was comprised primarily of Kendal Jackson wines and wines owned by Jess Jackson. I have to admit that BBQ sauce is not a good pairing with red wine. But even alone this wine is just a cut above mediocre.

RUSSK Day 2, still too hot and medicinal. Poured out.

RUSSK Nice aromatics, pleasant mouthfeel. But the alc (14.5%) seems out of balance.
