  • Shut down after 5 minutes then opened after 45 minutes, full throttle sous-bois, spices, some black fruits. Showing some tangy acidity but not overwhelming as there's still enough fruit to hold it together.

  • A lover of modern style wine would probably rate this an 85 or so. But this wine, as many 83 red burgundies, or for that matter 75 Bordeaux, has really extraordinary extract and length, albeit with harshness and bitterness. The fruit finish, very very intense rich complex pinot, lasts easily for a minute. But it ultimately gives way to maybe another minute of increasing harshness. Love it or hate it, this wine will pretty much stand up to almost anything you put on your table. Will it keep, you bet. Will the tannic harshness go away. I don't think so.
The incredible extract of good 83 red burgundies hasn't been seen since, but if the harshness - the baggage - doesn't work for you, absolutely fine - obviously as with all of us who drink fine wine, you call them as you see them.
