I did try this 2006 Chardonnay in 2008 at Foley. I just loved the creamy buttery flavours of the Chardonnay that year, in particular. It's smooth, & it's traces of vanilla, are just right. It's oak-y, but just enough ! I still have one bottle left that needs to be devoured , I mean savoured before the end of 2013 !

Santa Barbara Wine Tasting Weekend; 3/27/2009-3/30/2009 (Solvang, Lompoc, etc): Tasted in a flight at the winery. Oak dominates the fruit from start to finish and there is a heavy malolactic fermentation influence as well. Very creamy texture with nutty vanilla nuances. If you don't like oaky chardonnay, stay away. If you do, you will like this.

Weekend in the Santa Ynez Valley; 3/27/2009-3/30/2009 (Solvang, Los Olivos, Lompoc, and surround areas): Tasted at the winery. Floral, toasty and nutty nose with hints of lemon oil. Creamy apricots, lemons and roasted nut flavors. This is your pretty stereotypical CA butter bomb chardonnay. I felt it had a little more complexity than the "Steel," but definitely not my style of Chard.
