Good old Rioja flavours, went well with the grilled meat middle-eastern food we were having (lamb). Threw a slight sediment which seemed to be mainly tartaric acid (wine diamonds). Garnet colour throughout, maintaining good redness. Bottle was probably at sub-optimal temperature after coming straight from the 'cellar' in the middle of a snow storm, but improved as it warmed slightly in the glass. This was an inexpensive (maybe £7) bottle of supermarket wine, which improved significantly with bottle age. I wish I had bought a larger number of bottles back in 2009, but alas, such is life.
