  • Beautiful deep ruby-burgundy, though a tad light for a Syrah. Nose is a bit hot; spicy with hints of dark fruit and tobacco.

Acidic and a bit harsh at first sip; slightly bitter. Lighter bodied and similarly thin mouthfeel that's a bit chalky. Still, some good fruit and spice shine through the sharper elements.

The finish is odd; it seems short, but the flavour of currants and alcoholic heat linger warmly. Paired with food (a variation on Coq au Vin, which used this wine as well), I found it more enjoyable and it does open up nicely over time. Not the best QPR.

  • A very drinkable wine, but not very complex. Has the standard peppery & spice flavors that surround syrah, but not much else to it. I did enjoy it, and it is the first wine I've drank the entire bottle all by myself in a single night. Though this also shows that it has very little heat to it and is a good everyday table wine. (might be more to it, but I wasn't paying it close attention to detail)

  • I'm almost sorry that I bought this wine. It's a mute wine (doesn't say anything). Fairly austere and inexpressive nose and flavor profile. This wine lacks expression and character. Does change a little bit after a while, and does change some when paired with food, to show some dark fruit flavors, but never jammy, as described by the vintner. The wine does have a very peppery and spicy finish, which I may say that is a surprisingly long finish, but all by itself; nothing to go with it, or preceed it. This wine perhaps could make a good sangria.
