Jim's Retirement Party (Libertyville, IL): Small glass. Interested old Burg aromas with as much earth and lingering fruit with savory spice. Less interesting flavors seem more flat and tired. Other seemed to enjoy this more, but they might have been enjoying it simply being from Leroy, rather than the wine itself.

Jim's Retirement Party (Libertyville, IL): A solid bottle of old Burgundy, but definitely not at the level of the best bottles of Leroy. Lacks the intensity of the Domaine wines, but there is still some good, mature Burgundy material here. Thinning and a little light, with dried fruit and clean autumnal notes.

80s/90s Burg dinner at Jade Palace. Very matured in colour, bricking throughout. Dried roses, sour cherries, old leather, wood, beef blood with a touch of barnyard and dirt. Very savory on the palate with lots of meaty tones, along with sour plums, cherries, forest floor and black tea. This was very mature and you had to love mature wines to enjoy this one. Definitely not on its last legs, but drinking at peak.

Brick color. Barnyard and earth tones coming through on the nose, with some licorice. Good acidity; overall I though the aromas were wonderful and outdid the taste. However, a great experience overall.

Dark fruit. Murky, with decay notes and a bit flabby. Medium bodied. Integrated tannins. Enjoyable.
