Really beautiful stuff- I'd say a cross between the new and old world, with both ripeness and nuance. Liked it a little better than the last time I tried it - this time the fruit was singing much lounder. Ripe but gentle blackcurrant, plum, very purple, mixed with some bell pepper, black licorice and tobacco. Less jammy than last time, more fresh; fruit/acidity is gradually fading but in general this was lovely and had plenty of life.

Previous note is pretty dead on, even a number of years later. Nice currant fruit, a little jammy which isn't always my style, but not overboard- a little woodsy mushroom going on with allspice waaaay in the background. Definitely a little pyrazine, bell pepper, coffee grounds- still lets the fruit come through. Still fresh and delicious, although maybe a little faded fruit-wise. Another cpl years max?

In Vino Veritas Session 3 (MIT): Sweet fruit, banana (or am I just projecting with the Pinotage?), currants both fresh and dried. A little hot but generally quite well balanced. Nicely juicy, good fruit-oak mix. Tannins quite calm - at or near peak. V. good. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 10% Pinotage. 14% alcohol, $40.

Brownish red in colour with a full mature taste with black fruit, morels and wet earth/leather. Paired quite well with Gruyere & Comte. Probably very near peak at the moment and I wouldn't recommend hanging on to it much longer.
