The nose has a sherry-ish note along with with the fruit and a bit of menthol, suggesting a wine approaching old age. On the palate, however, this is an absolute merlot bomb, with fresh plummy fruit swamping any tertiary characteristics. Odd, but kind of fun.

I am not finding the green pepper notes that I picked out on the previous bottle. It appears that the wine as integrated a bit more and smoothed out some of the rougher edges. I would say the overall experience was better than for previous bottles.

Considering I paid $18 for this wine, it is quite good. There is still good level of fruit on the nose, but the green pepper nose is a bit strong. A little green pepper goes a long way. The balance was better after the raw tasting was done and the wine was served with dinner. Overalll, an enjoyable wine.

Maybe I am getting pickier on Bordeaux or maybe this wine is already past prime. Still has fruit on the nose, but the taste does not set a clear tone. It seems confused or lacking commitment.

Tasting sensation was consistent with previous bottle. This bottle seemed better on the 2nd day compared to the 1st. This was likely due to the airing time, plus the change in meal from grilled pork to grilled steak. The additional fat from beef improved the match between bottle and plate.
