What a great surprise to find that within just a few more minutes this began to open; in what might be record time, it seemed to go from near backward, to fully open, fully expressive. Full bodied, fine tannins, lovely textures, seamless, above-average purity and depth of fruit, above-average complexity on the nose and rock solid right through the last glass.   Tasted at the winery. Everything you'd come to expect from this producer and this price point. A nose of currants, smoke, pencil shavings and creamy red berries. On the palate, quite elegant with layers of red and blue fruits, a layered mouthfeel and a solid finish. Complex and engaging, this is built to last but is surprisingly approachable now with an hour decant. Drink thru 2018, approx $75.
