  • My favourites by Luis Gutierrez (plus private dinner at La Piperna) (Vila Viniteca - Madrid): Really hard to recognise this Cru this time.
    A solid, monolithic example waiting to show its qualities in a decade or so. Nothing in common with prior bottle neither last Chassagne of the same vintage.

    Realmente duro reconocer a este Cru esta vez.
    Un ejemplo sólido, monolítico que espera mostrar sus cualidades en una década o así. Nada en común con la botella previa, tampoco con la última Chassagne de esta misma añada.

  • I had bought this bottle fearfully, the curious incident of the oxidized Burgundy, you know. “Perhaps it would be wise to avoid the vintages in the 1996 to 1999 period altogether”, my admired CC said. Well, the lion is not so fierce…at least in this particular case. Calid gold colour for an expressive, little overiped nose(apple pie or lemony meringue). Dense, fat mouthfeel. Lovely acidic aftertaste. Interesting if not an outstanding bottle. Matched with a braised fillet of turbot

    Había comprado esta botella con miedo, los casos de botellas oxidadas, ya sabes. Mi admirado CC dijo que “quizás sería de sabios saltarse las añadas del 96 al 99, ambas incluidas”. Bueno, el león no es tan fiero…al menos en este caso. Color oro cálido, para una nariz expresiva, ligeramente sobremadurada (tarta de manzana o merengue alimonado). Densa sensación en boca, grasa. Rico postgusto ácido. Una botella interesante, acaso fuera de lo común. Maridó unos filetes de rodaballo a la plancha.

  • White Burgundy Tasting: Served double blind. Without question the wine of the flight for me. Gorgeous aromas of pear, faint vanilla, honey, lime. Rich yet elegant on the palate. Good concentration and solid acid support. Very nice.
