Denis passed away in 2017. Production is very small - just 3,000 cases. He had allot of friends, and when he passed away they friends stepped in and helped make the wines.
2019 and 2018, just after Denis death. Entirely from Cramant, on single vineyard called Chemin de Chalons. Very low dosage, all stainless steel.
Wonderful impactful nose. Very classic rich style of brioche, full and round on teh paalte without loosing focus at all. Very fine.

"Old" bottle but doing well. Must be degorgement 2017 or earlier, as it has been a long time since I visited the Domaine. Low dosage BdB can be excellent, like is the case for Varnier-Fannière.

What a striking, linear wine. An intense green, almost stemy note throughout. Very excited, but I think it would seem unbalanced without food. Was perfect with a tune/radish/cucumber tartar. Lovely texture.

(NV Varnier-Fanniere Champagne Grand Cru Cuvée "Jean Fannière Origine") Very light yellow with abundant, steady, tiny bubbles; autolytic, green almond nose autolytic, green almond palate; medium-plus finish
(NV Varnier-Fannière "Cuvée de Jean Fannière Origine" Extra Brut) ($73.00) 40% Cramant, 40% Avize and 20% Oger. 60% ’05, 40% ’06, disgorged 11/10, and 3g/l RS. Oh boy yes! The ’05 shows as classic white Parisiennes mushrooms and the ’06 as round, almost meaty body; this firm dry wine is balanced on the head of a pin; it’s salty and chalky yet markedly suave and smooth.

Just a bit more bottom smell and weight to it.
