I agree with the other reviewer, really very nice. I have rated well above average although not as 'very good' as I think there ate better reds in that price bracket from the region. Tastes much better after breathing...

Very drinkable although to me it lacked some of Roija's trademark characteristics - the mix of an edge of sweet vanilla from the American oak or the spicey edge to the fruit were both absent - a good wine but not great Rioja. UK readers should note that this wine was incorrectly identified in an article in The Times and consequently was being offered by Tesco's for £4.99 instead of its normal £14.99 ( I got the last four bottles at our store !!)

Light ruby core, watery edge. Red cherry, some vegetal nose, vanilla, nice balance. Taste red cherry and strawberry, nice acidity and well integrated tannins. Soft and excellent.

beginning to fade away which is unusual for a GR wine of this age

Reasonable wine but probably past its best days - not a great deal of depth or length for a Gran reserva
