A great wine will full of life in it. A bit funky on the nose with quiet dominant saddle leather. But it is a part of the interesting character (which by the way I also recognized with the 1999 Thelema Merlot Reserve). The fruit is still very present. Red berries, cassis, some cedar wood. Will keep this level for another 3-5 years

mature Bordeaux blend, appealing, classy, mellow, lovely balance. 14 Caudalie, drink until 2013. it's one of these wines where you look forward to every new sip. it demonstrates that a) premier domains of SA produce a quality that can last for 20 years, and b) that it is worth to wait.
