  • Big black fruit on the nose, very forward. Slight stemmy notes, some cocoa along with big black fruit again on the palate that drops off quickly once swallowed. Lots of acidity, lax tannins, unbalanced. An easy drink but not much more.

  • Blackberry jam and nutmeg are both very powerful on the nose here. The jammy flavors show on the palate, but the texture is a bit lighter than I expected. Full oak shows across the entire palate. It is an interesting experience in that the flavors are heavy in style, but the texture is on the lighter side.

  • Tasting at Arcane Cellars: Their tasting notes:
"This intense, structured Cabernet Sauvignon is produced from low-yield grapes grown in the volcanic soils of the Rogue Valley. Up front there are jammy blackberry and black cherry aromas and hints of dark chocolate and spice. Upon tasting, there is robust mid-palate weight, accompanied by a dark, earthy depth and structure. The wine has a long, smooth finish with caramel, smoke and molasses notes. Aged for 20 months in 40% new French and American oak. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
575 Cases Produced. Release Date: November 2008.

My notes: Nice aroma. Chocolate. Not deeply complex and a bit thin but approachable. A good table wine with light fare.

  • Coffee, chocolate and sweet candied dark red fruit and a hint of cinnamon with not much structure. It has all the aromas and flavors you'd find in a nice cab, but they don't come together in this wine.

  • Memorial Day Weekend Wine Tour (Eola-Amity Hills): Nice tannic cab fruit greets you on the nose, along with some sweeter scent I can't place. The oak and tannic structure on the palate are nice, but the fruit doesn't deliver very well. It's pretty light.
