Community Tasting Notes (4)

  • My last bottle and the best of 4. The wine opened with a very pretty translucent light cherry and then took on a darker brickish red with air. The nose was cherry and spice with a nice floral tone but oh my the palate was the star as it continually evolved through the evening. Lots of nice spicy rich cherry that became darker over time and at one point some nice orange peal showed up. The finish was long spicy and lip smacking good. This is now the best under $25 pinot I have had and I must explore more pinot from the SCM.

  • This bottle was as good as the first so I can only assume bottle variation was the reason for the second bottle not being as good.

  • This bottle was not as good as the first but still enjoyable. The intensity of the nose and palate were a notch or two lower. FWIW, the cork was saturated about halfway. I have a couple left so will try another soon to see if it is bottle variation.

  • I think this is the first pinot I have had from this region and WOW was I ever surprised. Good nose of dusty cherry, cinnamon, earth, and a touch of vanilla. The palate is full of nice tangy cherry and wild strawberry with just a slight sweetness and a surprisingly long spicy cherry finish. The color was a very nice translucent light cranberry/cherry. Under $20 and recommended.
