Opened at 2pm to inspect it for a double-blind meetup later in the night, re-corked. By the time this was served, it was still in its shell. That's not to suggest that there was really that much hidden in that shell. When it was served (5hrs later), the wine had yet to fully blossom so we tossed it in a decanter for 30 minutes. This did help, but it never turned into the wine I was hoping for. The most dominant notes on the nose were gunsmoke, chalk and oyster shell; on the palate, red apples, faint butter notes and some crushed minerals. Good to very good is all it could muster on the night. 13,3% abv

Confrerie Burgundy Trip – Day 3 (Chassagne-Montrachet /Vosne-Romanee): Deep, ripe, complex nose of honey, peaches, pear, nuts and lime. Richly textured palate of minerals and lime. Elegant and precise, rich but not fat. Finishes clean and pure with medium to long persistence.
