Mostly 1991 California Cabernet Blind (Berkeley): Group's #8; my #3; 1 first; 1 second; 3 third; 5 last. Aromas and flavors of cassis, raspberries, leather, iron, and honey. Complex, good balance, and a medium finish.

This bottle has been in my cellared maintained in perfect condition since I purchased it in 1994. The cork was in perfect shape, with no seepage evident whatsoever. The color is reflective of the age of this wine, dark garnet with hints of brick coming in at the edges. The nose is of hazelnuts, coffee, tea and leather - definite earthy qualities going on here. In the mouth this wine is soft and velvety. It takes a moment for the fruit to come through, but once it does it is dominated by dark cherries and plums. The tannins are all but gone, and while the finish lingers it fades fairly quickly. While drinking nicely, I think this wine is past its prime and anything left in the cellar should be consumed in the very near future.
