  • This is really cool! It has a deep yellow gold color with a waxy impression that comes through on the nose. It has freeze dried orchard fruit perceptions. It even has a hint of dessert wine perception on the nose. It taste great and was better as it warmed. It’s smooth and fluid, not thick but has substantial body.

  • Deep yellow color. Lovely. Aromas of lemon, florals, a hint of something waxy, orchard fruit and just a slight hint of butterscotch. Becomes more expressive and complex as it sits, this actually could have used half an hour in a decanter to help open up. Rich and layerd. Lemon, qunce, pear and spice. Long finish. Gorgeous. 94-95 pts.

  • Final bottle from a three bottle lot. Dull straw yellow colour. Oxidised. On the second day the spitting image of a medium Sherry from the supermarket. I only sniffed it on the third day.

  • Purchase directly from the domain in 2011.
Decanted for a good hour and definitely this wine is one white that needs it. It definitely relaxed and opened up somewhat but more importantly helped counterbalance the oxitative side..
We always argue over freshness vs maturity of these wine and once again we feel we should have these wines younger than older. Granted its an interesting experience but the wine without the freshness becomes more of a curiosity than an enjoyable drink.
Well evolved color, tertiary fruit here, oxidative and special in its own way. Very difficult to rate and to us more of a curiosity than a wine per se.

We have one more and we will open it in 10yrs or so to test Chapoutier's rule of thumb is that the wine shuts down between yr 5 and 12. We believe its a marketing play to sell old stocks. Drink them young and bright is our theory :) but we live in hope and hopefully we are proven wrong.
