Sadly, this is the last bottle of the case of this that I bought for under $12/bottle. Yeah. I know. Well, while this bottle was fantastic, it is probably best that I had it tonight. There is still plenty of fruit, depth, and clearly balanced, but the tannins are completely integrated and there are some slight stewed notes on the palate. Nothing at all serious, mind you, but it does make me think that there is more of that aged stewed fruit on the near horizon. So if you have any, drink up, it's fabulous! thedrunkencyclist.com

Back in 2009, I bought a case of this wine from the PLCB for a whopping $11.69/bottle. Should have bought several more cases. This represents the 11th bottle we have consumed, and this is in the running for the best of the lot: great (slightly stewed) fruit with secondary characteristics of leather, anise, and a slight whiff of tobacco. But make no mistake, this is gangbusters. Perfect balance, nice depth, falls just short of a “Whoa.” thedrunkencyclist.com

Alright, I hate the PLCB (the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board that controls all wine sales in the state). Normally, it is easily the worst place on the planet to buy wine. There are exceptions to every rule. This was one. I got this for about $10. Yes $10. This is a fabulous wine and I have been trying to resist drinking them. Tonight I succumbed, and i am glad I did. Wonderful fruit, great balance, plenty of intrigue. Outstanding. thedrunkencyclist.com

Popped and poured. Wow, really doing well at this point. Similar notes, but fruit more vibrant, pronounced, yet integrated. Outstanding.
