Rheingau - visiting Georg Breuer (Rudesheim): {375ml, cork, 8%, AP 018 07, €50} This is a real wine, just with some extra Auslese sweetness, not a ‚dessert‘ concoction. The nose is a little subdued with earth, although the honey-and-apple characters of the fruit are clear. The palate is medium/full-bodied, rich with great acidity and a medium-dry level of sweetness. I don’t know what the sugar level is, but it manifests itself in greater weight and persistence, rather overt sweetness. Long, balanced finish; drink now, certainly; I don’t know about greater age.
