With some green pepper on the nose but still lively black cherry fruit. Still lively on the palate, but then a touch of finely dusted tannins notes Marianna.

Revised: Records not handy. Bought 6 bottles 18+ years ago, probably from Sam's or Binny's, probably under 20/b; this is #2. Long (2"+?), solid, tight cork stained up about 1". Decanted with normal sediment for its age. Dark purple; fragrant mature blackcurrant nose, some herbaceousness; blackcurrant, some graphite, hint of roasted meat, very good mouthfeel; some persistence. Delicious and remarkable compared to any memory of pleasure from earlier bottles--a wine that illustrates the reward of buy and hold--glad to have more. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: For me, scores on a "100-point scale" are misleading. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. This is outstanding- when considering quality, age, and price.

Italian Wine Tasting: Ginseng roots and an assortment of other dried roots wrapped in green capsicum with exotic aromas. Extremely dry with dried earth and roots component poured over some old dried cherries. Very crumbly earthy component.
