After drinking 2009 & 2010 Saintsbury Brown Ranch, then 2011 Failla, this 2007 is even weightier on the palate. Nose is more subtle but distinct. Overall a subtle palate of not muted but also not bright fruits. Strikes a beautiful balance along with an acidity level just perfect for food.
Tasted non-blind at home. Drink over the course of 3 hours out of a decanter. Initially, it had a bright nose of cherries and raspberries but the nose turned darker after some air. Black cherries on the palate with some spice and black tea. Medium length finish that is fairly consistent with a bit of powdery/chalky texture at the very end. Medium acidity and mostly resolved tannins. Very little evidence of oak. Solid effort at this price point although I personally prefer more of a red fruit profile. Drink now and over the next 3-4 years.
