  • Antonin Guyon's Pernand 1er Crus (Raffles Place, Singapore): Plenty of material in this wine, but very disjointed at the moment. Somewhat like a car workshop all the parts strewn around the shell of the vehicle waiting to be put together. Nice enough nose at first pour - sweet lemons and mineral, butter, honey, chalk, toasted macadamias and a touch of slightly sweet wilted flowers. The oak really started sticking out when it got a bit warmer though. The palate attack with a burst of over-bright acidity, almost tart, and then more sweet lemon and a squeeze of sour lime with a rush of mineral. Nice clean feel, but very, very tight at first, with the acid practically screaming in the mouth. It calmed down a bit with time, but still stuck out here and there, so that the wine seemed all acid, mineral and lime. I thought it was a bit thin on the mid-palate at first, but that filled out a little, espiecally towards the finish, which showed tons and tons of mineral with some lip-smacking length. Even so, it was all a bit punishing at the moment. Will be much better with time, not sure if it will ever be a great wine though.
