Tasted by Anonymous on 3/8/2010 & rated 86 points: Not a bad wine. Was not expecting it to be drinkable. Notes of cherries, currant and chocolate with medium finish. (486 views)
Tasted by dfitzg2 on 1/11/2010 & rated 84 points: Pretty standard Cameron Hughes. Nice drinkability, nice color and a good choice to open for a drink before a white wine dinner. (719 views)
Tasted by stevenjstein on 12/30/2009 & rated 83 points: Seemed pretty thin and a little weedy. (754 views)
Tasted by Rob MacKay on 12/5/2009 & rated 82 points: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 15% Carmenere. An interesting blend but no single characteristic really pops out to excite you. It's simple, fruity and one dimensional. With some time, it appeared to improve a little and gain a bit of weight on the finish but overall I thought that it was just an average $11 wine. As with all Cameron Hughes wines, the best part about this one is the price. (998 views)

Tasted by davemj on 10/15/2009: Outstanding for this price point. Great nose, color, and taste. Dark, ruby, opaque. Effusive and striking: dark fruit aroma, fruit notes with oak. Taste is full bodied, expansive, and edgy. Nice balanced tannins. A great QPR for a non-vineyard non-winery producer. (1076 views)

Tasted by Cabfrancophile on 9/6/2009 & rated 86 points: Very solid for the price, though not the most exciting of wines. Good nose with bell pepper, herbs and dark fruit showing. Some vanilla, too, but more secondary. Palate isn't all that refined/integrated. Sweetness, acidity and tannin all assert themselves at different times. But balance is fine. Fairly powerful wine with tannins locking down at the end. Should be better once tannins recede. (1306 views)
Tasted by JC Old School on 8/17/2009 & rated 87 points: A little hot on the nose at first, with the dark berries still coming through along with a hint of chocolate dust. Also a little hot on the palate at first, but the dark berries and plum come through. Gripping tannins and a nice finish of dark fruits. Very nice! (1412 views)
Tasted by Grape_ape on 8/6/2009 & rated 88 points: Solid wine for 11.99, black current, black vherry flavors, some pyrazines from the merlot and carmenere. Firm tannins, some vanilla/touch of oak. This could actually stand some time in bottle. (1407 views)
Tasted by jeffkirk on 7/30/2009 & rated 88 points: (1254 views)
Tasted by toontune on 6/27/2009 & rated 85 points: Deep flavors but a hint of acidity that too away from the experience. Still, not bad for the price. (1571 views)
Tasted by gdykema on 5/30/2009 & rated 89 points: Currant and slightly floral nose. Lots of tannin, finish of plum and a bit of spice. (1451 views)
Tasted by TeelaJBrown on 5/20/2009 & rated 88 points: Lots of blackberry and chocolate on the nose and sour cherry on the palate. Good QPR, will probably buy again! (1924 views)
 Tasted by ZR1001 on 5/17/2009 & rated 84 points: (1649 views)
Tasted by wordstar on 5/10/2009 & rated 89 points: Very balanced and well developed, with plenty of fruit and nice finish. It drank well with minimal open time, and only got better during the meal. Blend or not, at this price we'll be getting more soon. (2069 views)
Tasted by ZR1001 on 4/12/2009 & rated 84 points: Not bad but nothing special (2343 views)
Tasted by Grillgod on 4/4/2009 & rated 88 points: Decanted 2 hours. Dark purple, blackberry, cassis and dry earth on the nose. Blackberry on the palate, but still too hot to let much else come through. A sweet blackberry liquor flavor. 88 Points because it does seem to have potential, but could be a year away. (2324 views)
Tasted by Adam'n Eve it! on 4/4/2009 & rated 92 points: Bought three cases. Smell of cherry, it has and sourness of fresh grape. Over 14% alcohol content. Great cork job; I am sure it would store well but I like it now. (2396 views)
Tasted by bahiadave on 3/9/2009: very tasty. (2544 views)

Vintage: 2006 Appellation: Napa Valley - 83% Rutherford, 17% St. Helena Varietal: 50% Cabernet, 35% Merlot, 15% Carmenere Price: $14 (compare at $50+) Alcohol: 14.5% Production: 8,000 cases Drink/Hold?: Now and through 2022 Release Date: February 2009

Taste: Deep dark, black purple rim reveals a youthful nose of blackberries, cassis hints of eucalyptus/bell pepper and that classic Rutherford dust (ahhh, the smell of Rutherford). Deeply structured on the palate and, again, very youthful. You will want to decant this wine for sure.

Cameron Confidential: We secured the Rutherford Cabernet component for this wine before Cab prices began to climb and the merlot components come from $60-100/bottle programs from famous Napa Wineries. Due to the down market for merlot we were able to source this whole blend at a very "effective" price. The merlot components, along with dollop of carmenere, really buff up this blend in terms of structure and richness.

It's important to note the difference between this wine and our past meritage blends which were merlot based and a bit softer in style. The cabernet in this blend, along with the really intense merlot and caremenere components creates a blend much more in the traditional style of Napa Meritage wines - highly structured and intense but with an approachability achieved through the magic of blending.
