Opened not decanted and served somewhat chilled from the cellar (around 57F). The first time I tried this it was right after bottling and the wine was very primary and volatile. Now, although young, it's just beginning to hit it's stride.
On the nose: sweet, ripe tannins and that "redwood" note (I don't know how else to describe it) that is that typical zinfandel tell I always smell. On the palate: a sour orange attack with some mushrooms; medium weight on the body; and a somewhat sweet, citrus finish with some chocolate and a little wood. Good +. Will be much better in another 6 months to a year. A terrific showing for a first release.
