Lacking fruit upon first pour, and quite musty, dry. After 1-2 hrs, raspberry/black currant came back. A bit late to be drinking this wine, 1-2 yrs overdue.

Dark brick-red in the glass with almost no legs. Raspberry compote and strawberry jam on the nose. Light-bodied, thin mouthfeel. Sour cherries on the entry with plum, baking spice and mild oak in mid-palate. The spice and oak follow through into the short-medium finish and the sour cherries reappear along with subtle tannins. After being opened for an hour the oak developed a slightly sweet note and there is a bit more fruit on the palate, mostly raspberry. After being opened for 2 hours, it started to develop some stewed fruit flavors, so I would say that this is a "drink now" wine at this point. Give it 30 minutes of air or run it through an aerator to bring out the fruit a little before drinking.

If you are looking for a big, jammy Zin...this isn't it. But if its a solid, medium bodied wine to go with pizza or a meatball sandwich, this more than fills the bill. Fairly fruit forward with a nice acidity. I liked it, but there are other ones out there that I prefer.

Nice wine to wind down a really lousy week with. Old style zin that is very restrained and perfectly nice with food. Spice and cherry jolly rancher on the nose. More spice and more jolly rancher on the palate but with the odd, surprising, and not at all unpleasant addition of a Bordeaux-like cedar aspect. Very nice. A total no bullsh*t wine, at a time I really needed one. Thanks Renwood.
