Decidedly Italian. The bouquet alone brought me back to Italy with its earthy dark cherry and raisin notes. The texture is soft and smooth. The palate is dark cherry, plum, raising and fresh flowers. This is just awesome!

Decanted 45 minutes, served at 17C. Ruby red with some bricking at rim. This was this wine's best showing yet. Expressive, if monolithic bouquet of macerated cherries. A definite sweetness to the bouquet. Round, supple attack with a broad layer of glycerol infused cherries. Tannins are very fine, giving a slightly drying final without the astringence I've noted before with this wine. Moderate to long final and very food friendly...surprised this stood up to a mild Thai curry and complemented it very well. Shame I have only one more of these - think I may have drank the others too early.

Solid wine. Still good fruit with fine tannins. Good acidity and very easy drinking for a 16yr old bottle. Really enjoyable classic Italian wine.

Fruit was muted but striking acidity made it a good dinner companion. Nice earthy nose and secondary flavours.
