This is a towering effort. Ripe, heady nose of turned earth, dusty cellar, cigar ash, worn leather, spiced dried plums, kirsch and wood spice. The palate has big burly tannins but is well balanced by sweet fruit, a sumptuous, glossy texture and nice lift in the mouth. Smoky and spicy on the long finish. Very nice wine, probably at or near peak. Mostly merlot with Sangiovese aged 14 months in new barriques.

D'un superbe millésime, c'était mon baptême avec ce super-toscan et je n'ai pas été déçu. Quel fruit (rouge et à noyau), tant au nez qu'en bouche, puissance et longueur! La finale reste un bon moment et est encore sur le fruit, mais plus confituré, le bois bien intégré et un peu la fumée. L'année commence sur les chapeaux de roue avec ce vin qui risque fort, et pas en vain, d'être dans mon top-vingt 20-20. ;-)

Drank from magnum with pasta and meatballs. Cork drying out and crumbled. No leakage. Dark in color. Still fairly young in 1.5 format with plenty of life. Blackberry, black cherry & coffee flavors. Tannins still have some grip. Progressively improved and smoothed out after 2-3 hours in decanter. Would drink up 750’s but in 1.5 could go a couple more years if need be.
*had about two glasses worth left in my magnum I just had with dinner second day. Super smooth. Evolved and was even a little better on day 2.

Nez confituré, expressif et bonne intensité. En bouche c est ample, tout en rondeur avec de beaux tanins doux. Très belle longueur. C est très bon
