Pretty savory, not a lot of fruit. Some nice herbal, earthy notes. Kind of an old world take on syrah. Paired well with food.

Nice funky, muddy nose, compost. Taste is pretty big, lots of fruit, huge blackberry is vibrant and bright, some cured plum / prune notes though as well. Vanilla from the oak, but not over done, a really tasty wine, really classic rhone blend flavors, inspired by the rhone, but new world fruit. Screaming deal at only $9, I will look for this one OR (bought in ID). Biggest knock is it seems exceptionally flabby, less acid then even the usual low acid syrah. Still, soft tannins and very smooth overall, as well as being medium bodied and not really cloying (perhaps a bit thick), make it an enjoyable wine. I wish I had bought more, I will hopefully be back in ID for work again to pick more up if I can't find it in OR, it's good enough to make me want to try the rest of their line up. Bonus points for the packaging (mnt artwork and sawtooth skyline on label, fishing fly on closure, which is a stelvin, which I prefer).

This 2005 Syrah is 86% Syrah, 7% Cinsault, 6% Mouvedre, and 1% Grenache. It has deep dark color. Aromas of Blackberries, Raspberries, Dark Cherry, and Plum. A little heat on the nose. Flavors of Blackberries, Plum, Pepper, Burnt Orange with a hint of Caramel on the palate. Very fruit forward. Lot's of dark fruit on the finish with a hint of pepper and soft tannins. Way to go Idaho.
