Nose burning pepper not experienced since I over gulped a 6.5 ounce coke as a five year old - I like it! Probably waited a bit too long on this one, though perhaps time added a little complexity missing in earlier tastings I saw. A venerable 11 year old with decent body and good long finish. Unexpected in every way which is a nice departure.

My last of 3 bottles, and apparently did not have the time or inclination to make a note on the other 2. This is a very tutti fruitti pinot. While it has decent length, nice mouthfeel, and very bright fruit, its not what one wants in a pinot based wine. No acidity, very flabby, good party wine for sipping. Had it against a 2010 Penner Ash Pinot, which had great tension along with good fruit and good finish. Very striking contrast.

Very ripe with candied red fruits in the foreground. Despite this, the wine is very light in both appearance and mouthfeel. There is a little spice (nutmeg, allspice) lurking beneath the fruit, but it definitely isn't pronounced. It almost has a Dr. Pepper quality to it. Truth be told, this seems a bit simplistic and one-dimensional compared to other Davis Family wines I've had. Noticeable heat on the finish, but it didn't detract much from the overall experience. Good bottle if you like the ultra-ripe style, but not a great value.

Davis Family Vineyards make consistently good PN. Bought this on Woot along with other PN designations. This has the classic PN nose (fruit with some earthiness and a bit of rubber band smell). Taste is similar to the nose. A bit of spiciness. Delightful!

This wine continues to show well and I think the drinking window is still another couple of years.
