  • Somehow. Amd I mean by miracle. I was able to remove the cork in 1 piece. It was pretty saturated and I was apprehensive. The first nose was earthy, old world and needing some air since the born on date was during the Clintonyears here in US. Gave her about 2 hours and was gifted with a top notch experience. Well worth the wait. Even if cared for perfect. Drink now. Cork was among the worst I have seen. If you insist on saving. Build a bat box and hang her upside down. Cheers.

  • Patience paid off. With the pull of the cork, a quiet party began with cherries flirting with black olives while rosemary swayed with the anise. The cherry pits played background. Simply a wonderful wine with a velvety mouthfeel on a medium frame. A few grains of sediment slip out in the last pours. 13.5% alc. With veal meatballs and cheese lasagne from Antonio’s Italian Deli (Raleigh). As nice as the food was, the wine surpassed it. Highly Recommended.

  • This wine appeared younger than the CastelGiocondo Brunello consumed with it, both 1997. Redder color, darker, less thin. In some ways the Vino Nobile was almost better -- but there is a simplicity, just the sour cherry note and the acidity, not as much complexity. Like the Brunello it sweetened and opened when tasted with meat, it was simply a lot better with the correct pairing. And it was better the next day as well.

  • Ruby center with 1/8" clearing at the edges. Earthy-sweet tart nose. Dry earth. Cherry fruit. Decent.

  • Despite a great vintage, the Poliziano is not convincing. Weakly defined but intense nose of black fruits. Mossy. Musty. Even with plenty of air hardly a nice bouquet. Simple and straightforward on the palate.
