Trop strict et austère pour moi, je ne trouve pas de vie à ce vin, pas d'arômes, pas de charme. C'est très frustrant quand on aime Bonnes Mares et 2007! Aux antipodes de mes gouts bourguignons...

I had felt this needed some more time so I did decant it and found it gave a bit more fruit but remains to me a bit light. There are scents of herb and earth and it is a tart fruit that lingers but in a deft or light way. I feel it is improving still but has not been a WOW

The End of the Golden Weather: a pre-COVID-19 Visit to Central Otago in Autumn 2020: I served the two Bonnes Mares as a pair double blind. The pair of Bonnes Mares were a clear step up from the two previous 1ers. Very much a 2007 Grand Cru rouge. A strictness, precision and austerity from the white Morey soil, but with generosity and savoury detail. Preferred by all. No hurry to drink.

Dinner with friends: Blind. Wonderfully spicy nose, deep, fragrant; much more restrained and angular in the mouth, high acid and tannin, long.
