  • Brief decant before heading out to Hillstone with joe and company
No formal notes but it showed beautifully, medium to full body; packed with fruit soft tannins with long finish
    No rush
    The wines is improving

  • Nice bottle. I'm a little surprised how much I've enjoyed some recent Le Moine wines. Young and brooding, with layers of brambly Pinot fruit, beetroot and earthy notes. Some jutting oak and a little bit of heat on the back end. However, I think this will integrate well with some more age.

  • What a great wine experience.

Decanted two hours. Bright ruby in colour. Nose of barnyard, cherries, red fruits, flowers, exotic spices. On the palate, lovely fruit, beautiful balance and a long, long finish. We just wanted more and more of this.

  • I was very curious to try this given Mounir and Rotem's unorthodox approach. Since there is apparently no racking or filtration, the CO2 doesn't leave the wine. This allows for minimal sulfur. The wines are supposed to be decanted for at least half an hour (up for a few) for the CO2 to dissipate. However, the wine should last in a closed decanter for up to a week. So they say.

The CO2 is apparent right out of the gate and diminished at 30-60 minutes in the decanter. There's a lot of harmony on the nose, but not a huge amount of punch or complexity. A few hours of air brings out more Gevrey animal notes which I really like but by day 2 that had subsided. The blueberry and leather elements do last better than would be expected of a normal wine, but I'm skeptical of the notion that this can be kept open for prolonged periods of time and continue to drink at peak (I decanted, drank a couple glasses, and then funneled the wine back into bottle and kept it at 62).

An interesting experiment, but not one for which I would pay another $120 to repeat. This would be a good buy at under 70, but this is pushing the envelope in terms of QPR... even setting aside the claim that this lasts after prolonged exposure to air.
