This wine was pretty far from an Aussie Shiraz. This had mineral, bacon fat, and a lot of spicy peppery notes. It was decanted over 1 hour. The wine was labled as unfiltered and the cloudy color was a dead give-away. On the palate it had a spicy, dark fruit note of blueberries. Not bad, we bought this spring of 2009 on a wine tasting trip in Santa Barbara.

Santa Barbara Wine Tasting Weekend; 3/27/2009-3/30/2009 (Solvang, Lompoc, etc): Tasted at the Presidio tasting room in Solvang. Nice nose of black pepper and anise. The wine has a nice spicy pepper element and is not a jammy, fruity, over the top wine. It resembles more of a Northern Rhone styling, which may or may not appeal to some people. For me, I liked it.
