  • Deep but quite clear reddy/purple. Some brick tones on the rim. Nose a little muted, but what is there is quite lovely and shows good complexity - black fruits over red, liqourice, cedar. Blackberry and cassis on palate. Quite a big wine despite the colour, not heavy on the palate, but big, forthcoming fruit flavours. Not so much of the complexity that was on the nose. Good acids add to the fresh fruit feel of this wine - perhaps lacking a little tannin for a really good structure, and lacking weight for a really big score.

I don't think this wine was ever meant for the NZ market, being 'Specially produced for weingut georg fromm' and not appearing in any of the usual reviews. An absolute steal at the clearance price of $10.90 (rrp of $27, and drinks like a mid $20s wine).
