  • Drank with baked ziti after church on Christmas Eve. Came after a bottle of La Gerla Roso di Montalcino. This was more interesting, but not a great deal so. Reticient nose, probably dried fruit. Primary palate, tannins integrated. Was adequate to wash down the simple dish it went with. Not much else to say. Somewhat disappointing given the price and the maker. Problem must to be the vintage, which appears to have been bad throughout Italy. Moral: beware 2002 Italians.

  • Raisin or plum nose. Dried, sweet fruit, cedar. Tasted very much of dried cherry. Very dry. Not entirely interesting. Very tart. No taste of the dried fruit that's on the nose. Not my favorite. A little to spread - not very concentrated. Actually, I didn't like it. Finish is sour. Jim also noted the cherry and found it very heavy smelling. He noted an acidic finish, some tannin. He thought it was fine. I thought it was better with food (lasagne bolognese).
