Wow. So glad I held on to this one. Beautiful cassis and red fruit with the signature Draper dusting of raspberries. Fresh and lively on the palate with a stunning finish. My last and best bottle.

Cabernet Tasting (My place): Blind wine #1 of 8. Light ruby coloring with slight signs of aging. Very nice nose. Low alcohol with notes of pine and strawberry. Slight sourness with a short finish. When revealed as a 1997 cab, we were all surprised given the minimal bricking.
My 86 points. Group's #6 of 8. Probably 3-5 years past its prime drinking, so if you have them drink them.

This bottle was given to me as a gift about a year ago. Two nights ago, opened it up. The cork was totally rotten -- corkscrew went right through it. Had to pour the wine through the rotten cork. And to my surprise, this wine has held up well over 16 years. It was pretty good.

Very nice cab with ripe currant, red berry and muted spicy oak, with a dusty minerality. Still very tightly wound, I think it will hold for several more years.

Wow, this second bottle was much better than the first. Still a little bit of a thin spot and just a touch disjointed, but the Monte Bello pedigree was apparent in these young vines. Came together even beeter the second day. Anyway, food masked its weaknesses and it stood up well with dark fruit and structure.
