Merlot & Cabernet: "Mer-Net". Picked up on a whim stopping by their winery on my trip up Spring Mountain with Big Joe. Not decanted. Tight at first, but it really opened up in the glass. Really nice nose of black fruits, earth, and tobacco. More of the same in the glass. A little green, which I'm discovering is typical of Spring Mountain wines. Probably opened this a little too early. Tannins remained hard, only softening after an hour or so, when the blackberry flavors really began to shine. One of the better 2000's I've had. 91 pts.
