Mike G. does Cleveland (Landerwood Pool & Tennis): Corked. Not a great way to start a tasting. It had nice color and wasn't terrible but enough. Too bad as I have only had this once before and really don't know much about it (and especially not with age).

Tight flat, tasteless, tart, light...just not a great wine. If upstate NY could make great reds, they would do it. This represents the bet upstate NY has to offer regarding reds, and it's just not good. If you want a wine from this region, try Dr. Frank's Dry and Semi-Dry riesling.
A delightful wine. Crisp, nice fruit with slight herb tones. Chilled, but not overly chilled (about 55 f). I paired it with a Victoria snapper florentine -- worked very well.

Some friends who live in upstate NY brought this wine when they visited us at the beach in Michigan. I had tried the 2006 vintage of this wine and liked it. However, this bottle was terrible and I ended up dumping my glass which I rarely do. Very lean and dry with notes of asparagus. 67 points.

(Dr. Konstantin Frank Vinifera Wine Cellars Rkatsiteli Finger Lakes) The nose is straight forward and fruity, showing ripe pineapple and guava fruit aromas with a subtle almost-buttery note. Medium-to-light bodied, the palate is dominated simple tropical fruit flavors like mango and pineapple. The acid balance is okay, but it's not particularly racy. Overall, I'm left a bit disappointed. I know that fruit from a new, young vineyard was used for the first time in 2007, so maybe that's part of the change in style. The upside is that they have lowered the price quite a bit as production has gone up.
