Was decanted 40 minutes before dinner. Lot of melted tannin, black currant, a hint of leather and a suggestion of under-wood, medium bodied (12.5% vol.) and a long slightly drying finish.
Classic old school Pauillac with still enough life to be enjoyed, but better not waiting any longer with the last bottle.

This was a gift years ago from my parents - and we were celebrating my wife’s 34th bday. We saw that the drinking window ended/peaked at 2013. My palate isn’t exceptional - but this wine still has a lot of life. No decant - just poured half bottle into large Wedgewood Vera Wang Pouring Point and let it open over the dinner. It started with a lot of tobacco (like the finest cigar) and red fruits - as the dinner went on the fruit came out a little more and some oak and the tobacco rescinded a little. Finish was well over 30seconds. I would drink now - not sure if prime wasn’t a year or two ago - but it’s awesome and special. (Had with prime filet)

Lunch claret? I say thee nay. A delightful wine, with classic Pauillac nose of pencil lead leather and enough red fruit to make me look at the label once or twice and check to make sure it's really an '88. The palate also has plenty of red fruit freshness, with soft tannin and acid to enjoyably accompany steak frites. A wine of age and pleasure, that shows youthfulness without any youthful rudeness.

With a wonderful brick color and an explosive aroma from the beginning, this wine was such a great and surprising experience. Although the drinking window says 2011 is around its end, it was great. We took a good two hours to finish the bottle and it did not disappoint at all. Herbaceous and woody aromas with dark fruit on the palate. The tannins had been softened by the aging. So happy I still have a couple more to enjoy!

Alive and well. I was worried about the age of this wine and was very happy after the first sip. The wine was a beautiful ruby color with the expected bricking on the edge. The nose was true Bordeaux and on the palate the wine was mature, but it still retained the flavors of red berry fruit. Served with lamb chops cooked on the grill; it stood up very well.
