Dark ruby, darker than the 1977 Hardy's I was drinking alongside it.
A light marine odour with menthol and cherries on the nose that mostly blew off with some air.
Velvety with blueberries, mulberries, and cherries on the palate. Very moreish and rich - almost opulent. It kind of reminded me of a 1998 Penfolds Grange in this regard with a large helping of sugar!
Clearly younger and with more backbone than the '77.
Absolutely delicious but lacking the complexity, intensity, and structure of a great Douro Port.
