Community Tasting Notes (4) Avg Score: 90.4 points

  • Fully developed nose, slightly herbaceous, with last year's strawberries, decomposing undergrowth and lake mud. The fruit is beginning to fade by now, but transparency, harmony and drinkability are all superb, woodnotes perfectly integrated by now. Nothing more to be gained from cellaring. This magnum drinks as fast as a single bottle!

  • Light woodsmoke and luxurious oriental spice over raspberry/strawberry fruit with some depth. Opens nicely in the mouth with plenty of flavour, balanced acidity and just a tad too much wood on the finish. Anyway, like the style here a lot and this 07 certainly drinks well - a bit less oak and it would be even better.

  • Absolutely fabulous strawberry pinot aromas with sexy development towards truffles/forest floor. Pure, fresh and cleansing on the palate. Philippe Gilbert took his 07s to a new level, thanks to a good vintage, dedicated vineyard work and a lighter hand with the oak upbringing. Hats off!

  • Absolutely fabulous pinot noir. Not reductive - raw meat, lake mud - as the first bottle (nov 2009). Immediately accessible pure red fruit of strawberries, redcurrants and cranberries/lingonberries. Very sensible oak treatment, lightly toasted with curry, cinnamon and sandalwood aromas. Fresh acidity, elegant structure and no bitterness. Cleansing purity in the lingering aftertaste. Lovely stuff.
