Glowing apple, bread dough, not for everyone. Real lovely funk to the aromas. Again really edgy acid, some cinnamon spice spice. Of the more intriguing styles of Riesling. Fruit, funk, dry, high Acid.

My first taste of the '08 and I wasn't disappointed. It would be ludicrous to say that this wine is 'toned down' but though it retains the high acidity of its '07 antecedent, I believe I remember hearing something about approx. 2 g/L more RS than the '07, which would explain the smoother texture. Keeps a recognizeable amount of toasted sesame and lime, but shows something the '07 never did--honeydew melon. Ben calls, "Mineral water," and I agree. Only when tasted side by side, I believe, with the '07 does this wine show what could be considered softer.
But it would still blow the pants off of most dry riesling drinkers...

Dry riesling @ Groppi's; 10/15/2010-10/26/2010 (Groppi's): lacquered fruit on the nose. a sour beer expression in the nose. aged chenin character. pear liqueurs. very leesy, brown leesy, almost wants to spritz. 'grilled limes.' this is really interesting.
